Canary Wharf, one of the biggest financial districts in the world has been built by a romanian. Yes, a romanian.
In 1988, when port industry began to decline and the docks became useless, The Canary Wharf project has been sold to the Canadian company Olympia & York and George Iacobescu was the man in charge with the project at that time. He did such a good job, that he became the chairman and CEO of Canary Wharf Group.
Now, everytime I walk on the streets of Canary Wharf or I see the Canary Wharf skyline, I’m a bit prouder that I’m romanian.
