Tesla

I had this wallpaper on my laptop for years. This is the amount of time I also had to wait for this dream to become true. 3.5 years from the moment I put the order and 7 years since I’ve started to dream, to be more specific.

I’ve started following Tesla in 2012, when the Model S was launched. Doing my research about Tesla, I thought the car is too good to be true, too advanced to get into the market, too early to be understood and appreciated by masses. Apparently, that wasn’t the case and Elon Musk‘s Master Plan got implemented as he planned it. Years are passing on, I get more and more interested in Tesla. I start dreaming, even if, at that time, it seemed to be impossible for me to imagine myself behind a “T” steering wheel.

31st of March, 2016. I’m in London, I make some decent money and the projection for my financial future doesn’t look bad at all. Elon comes on stage and reveals a new line in his Master plan: Tesla Model 3. The most affordable Tesla yet. I put my reservation straight away, even I’m not sure that I will afford to own a Tesla, at some point in life.

Late 2017. Tesla starts deliveries in the USA. Customers have the chance to test it on the road. All of them are simply amazed. Tesla over delivered again. People’s enthusiasm is incredible. I got a flight ticket to Miami to see if they are right or wrong. I arrive in Miami, take an Uber to the closest Tesla showroom and in a few seconds I’m in love. I’m in love with a car. I never thought that will happen to me. This is when impossible started to become possible.

The hype comes in Europe 2 years later and my dream is closer to become reality. I start saving some money for a large deposit and I try to make a plan to afford the monthly payments. Then, I shift myself from being a fan to being a stalker. I try to get closer to a Tesla as often as I can. That means attending automotive fairs, showrooms, test drives, etc.

2019. Tesla announces that they will start deliveries in the UK later this year. I’m ready. 19th of July 2019: I’ve got a VIN number. That means that there is a car in the USA, waiting to be delivered to me. I start following all shipments daily. I get crazy and the time is shrinking. 8th of August 2019: I get myself a delivery date. I feel tears coming out of my eyes. 13th of August 2019: I take delivery. The impossible just became possible. I drive from Heathrow delivery centre to M25, then M40. A few hours later I settle down, start processing everything that happened in the past years and realize that I am the happiest and grateful man on Earth.

Now, I stopped dreaming. The dream is on my doorstep.
