I’m going to tell you a short story that was, actually, one of the biggest life lessons I have received in my entire life.
I fly to Singapore for my birthday. I love Singapore. It’s one of the best places in the world. I stay here just for a few days and I think to myself to do something special for my birthday. What can be better than booking a night at Marina Bay Sands Hotel and have acces to their infinity pool. So I’ve done that. Booked just one night, ready for an amazing experience.
I arrive in Singapore. I checkin for the first couple of nights at a regular hotel. The guy from the reception realized that it’s gonna be my birthday soon. He says Happy Birthday to me and teased me with some special gift.
We go do our stuff, explore the city, have different activities and, for my birthday, we leave that hotel, heading to Marina Bay Sands, waiting to be amazed. The experience was wonderful. 5 stars on every single service. The view was like no other, delicious food, kind people. Simply amazing. But nothing extra.
When I get back to the initial hotel, there is a birthday cake in the room, waiting for me. I forgot about what the guy from the reception said. I sit, look at that cake and start thinking: I should apreciate more every place, experience, relationship, no matter how much they cost or how famous they are.
