Istanbul: one city, two continents

In one day you can visit almost all the important sights of Istanbul. Museums, mosques, palaces, bazaars, etc. But you can’t vizit Istanbul you have to feel it. When I got here, there was an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort everywhere. Exactly what I needed after 1 month of running around Europe.

After I checked in, I walked into a nearby bar. I opened my laptop, ordered a juice, and started reading my emails. Not too late, I realize I didn’t have any cash left. I ask the waiter if they have POS so I can pay by card. I get a short answer back: no. I explain to him that I don’t have cash, no euros or turkish pounds, and he calmly answers that it’s not a problem. I can pay later.

That’s what Istanbul means. Hospitality, respect, relaxation, comfort and trust. The turks know how to respect tourists, they know how to sell. You can say they are the kings of commerce. They have proven it over time.

In the Grand Bazaar you can take the plunge or make a good deal. Usually, the starting price is higher than in stores. From here it all depends on your qualities as a negotiator.

If you get through Istanbul, you eat consistently and cheaply, of course! I tried all kinds of kabab, corn, sweets, pretzels, juices, it’s crazy. I spent in Istanbul on food in 5 days as much as I spent in Venice in one day.
Istanbul climbed to 3rd place in my list, after London and Barcelona.

Here ends the first part of the Eurotrip. I’m coming home. Finally. See you at the train station. Please bring flowers and napkins, okay?
