I’ve been to London 6 times and every time this city managed to surprise me. When you say London, you mean civilisation, organisation, cleanliness, art, innovation, nature, relaxation. It is enough to spend an hour in this city and you will discover them all.
I have visited London as a tourist so many times, but this time I managed to spend a week in this wonderful city as a simple local.
I’ve avoided the touristy and crowded areas and I preferred to spend most of my time in areas 2-9. When you do that, it’s impossible not to notice the greenery that covers the city, the raw, lively nature, huge parks, lakes, green areas on every street corner. For us, it may be unusual to have so much nature in a city, but for them it is normal. Nature is life. To have a beautiful, quiet and healthy life you have to live in a city like this.
Getting back to this wonderful city, it is amazing when you just “go out” and near your pub or restaurant, the world premiere of a film or an opera concert will take place. That’s what “Going out” means in such a big city.
Not to mention the new attractions that shows up year, perfect architecture, museums, or nightlife.
After living and experiencing London as a local, it is almost impossible not to think about moving. And so the maths began: surprisingly and contrary to all appearances, London is not necessarily an expensive city. The rent for a 1 bedroom (a kind of 2-room apartment in Romania) can reach somewhere around £ 800/month. You can find a good car for £1000 and with about £900/month you can handle: taxes, food, pocket money, etc.
Conclusion: London is a city to visit at least once a year or ideally: a city to live in.
We bought one and it is great. My 3 year old no loengr creeps into our bedroom at 5am hoping that it is time to get up.The only down side is the 5.45 call out Mum- my clock is broken! It hasn’t changed to the sun. I am still explaining that if she waits in bed a little bit loengr, the sun will eventually come on.
